About me

My name is Katy, I’m 31 years old. I live in the North East of England, but I grew up in the Lake District, before moving away to study at the University of Stirling. I moved to the North East in the summer of 2011 and I’ve been working in education more or less ever since!

My previous jobs include working with vulnerable 15-19 year olds in the heart of Glasgow teaching them life and functional skills, and trying to help them progress into the world of work. I spent many years as a supply teaching assistant in schools all over the North East. I also helped out during an OFSTED inspection at a school in Sunderland.

I first started tutoring four years ago, helping GCSE and A Level students during their exams. In January 2018 I took the plunge and decided to tutor full-time, and my business has only grown from strength to strength over the year and a half it’s been running!

I pride myself on my quirky, unique teaching style where I encourage my students to learn, but also to have fun! It’s well-known that people learn better when they are in a relaxed, friendly, comfortable environment.

My hobbies include reading, writing stories, football (I’m a huge Blackburn Rovers fan!) and socialising with friends.
